FCB NBB AND SILVER STICKERS TO BATTLE IN A CHARITY SHIELD ENCOUNTER THIS AFTERNOON

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are taking on the central bankers, Silver Stickers this afternoon at BNS in a 2024 Charity Shield Cup sponsored by NBS Bank. The encounter will be exciting as Pasuwa, Nyasa Big Bullets Head coach will play against his former assistant coach Peter Mponda who is now the head coach for Silver Stickers FC. Last year The people's team lifted the trophy after beating the bankers in postmatch penalties after a 1-all-draw in 90 minutes. Speaking with media in the Capital City Silver Stickers head coach, Peter Mponda said the match will help him to assess players performance to see how ready they are for this year's TNM Super league football competition. HAIYA REQUESTED MPs TO REGISTER THEIR TOURNAMENTS WITH FAM

The President of Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Fleetwood Haiya have requested Members of Parliament to start registering with the association whenever they want to set up a tournament in their contingency. Haiya said this Thursday 28 March 2024 when he visited the members of Parliament in strengthen the existing relationship between the Association and the government. He said the members of Parliament are doing a great job to develop football in the country through the tournaments they set in their contingency. Because of this the association president thought it necessary for him to visit these members and encourage them to continue doing a good job for the betterment of football in Malawi. FAM President said, to register their tournaments with the association will help and give chance to members of association to go and spot talent in their contingency. MABEDI IS DISAPPOINTED WITH FLAMES PERFORMANCE PORTRAYED IN 4 NATIONS TOURNAMENT

Flames Head Coach, General Patrick Mabedi said he is very disappointed with the way the players have performed in the Four Nations tournament which took place at Bingu National Stadium from Saturday, 23 March 2024. Malawi national team have lost to Kenya by 4 goals to nill and also lost to Zambia by 2-1 Saturday and Tuesday respectively  Speaking to media, Mabedi said "although we didn't do better throughout the tournament but we are very grateful for the tournament because we have seen where our weaknesses are". I should also emphasize that I am also very happy that I have spotted some of the players who will help us in the world cup qualifiers which will resume in the coming months. Mabedi also highlighted that the delayed release of some players from their team is a contributing factor for their failure to perform better in the tournament. MMW, NBB ACCEPTED THAT THEY HAVE RECEIVED LETTERS FROM CRECK SC

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Nyasa Big Bullets have accepted that they have received official letters from Check Supporting Club requesting them that they are interested in the services of their midfielders. The newly promoted team wrote on their official page that they have submited formal letters to Blantyre based rivals telling them that they are interested in buying Patrick Mwaungulu and Lanjesi Nkhoma from FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and they are also interested in having Wisdom Mpinganjira from Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Football Club. Commenting on the matter Nyasa Big Bullets Administration Officer, Albert Chigoga said it is true that they have received a letter from Check Supporting Club that they are willing to sign Patrick Mwangulu and Lanjesi Nkhoma. MALAWI BEACH SOCCER NATIONAL TEAM HAVE WON A BRONZE MEDAL

Malawi Beach Soccer national team have landed today at Kamuzu International Airport from South Africa where the participated at COSAFA beach soccer Championship in the city of Durban. The team has won bronze medal after finishing third at the tournament following a 5-4 win over Saudi Arabia yesterday.The Malawi Beach Soccer National team have failed to book a place in the final of the 2023 Cosafa Beach Soccer Championship after a 6-9 defeat to Morocco. The team registered two wins in the group stages, when they hammered Seychelles and the host South Africa, but they lost to Morocco in the Semi-finall. Malawi's CaptainIsaac Kajamu have managed to collect three award. Fair Play Award but also two Man of the Match while Dalla Simba also won Man of the Match award in yesterday's encounter. Morocco beach soccer national team are the Champions of this year's COSAFA beach soccer Championship after defeating Mozambique in the final match.

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC have beaten Civil servants football club, Civo United in a pre-season friendly match by 2 goals to 1 at Champion stadium in Dowa district. FOUR-NATIONS TOURNAMENT TO KICK-OFF ON SATURDAY 23 MARCH

Malawi will host four-nation tournament starting from Saturday next week at Bingu International Stadium in the the Capita city. Flames will play Kenya in their first match on Saturday. As we a getting closer to the tournament, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers has not yet released their players who were called for national duty. These players are Stanley Sanudi, Chimwemwe Nkhoma,Lawrence Chaziya, Wisdom Mpinganjira, Fransisco Madinga, Christopher Kumwembe and Clement Nyondo. This is happening when other countries like Zambia and Zimbabwe who are ready to participate in the tournament have announced their final squads to travel with. The tournament will kick-off on 23 and 26 March 2024 at Bingu. EDERSON SUSTAINED A MUSCLE INJURY IN A MATCH AGAINST LIVERPOOL LAST SUNDAY

The Premier League defending champions first choice goalkeeper, Ederson Santana de Moraes will be unavailable for four weeks after sustained a muscle injury in Sunday’s EPL match against Liverpool.  Ederson was hurt when he fouled his opponent Darwin Nunez, a striker in a penalty box in trying to clear a dangerous ball which was mistakenly set by Nathan Ake. The foul cost Pep Guardiola’s side a penalty which Liverpool turned this chance into a goal through Alexis Mac Allister. The 2024 Charity Shield package to be unvailed today by NBS Bank, the sponsors at their headquarters in the city of Blantyre. Speaking in an interview the NBS acting Head of Marketing and Customer Experience James Chikaonda said the bank understands the need to impact other people’s lives through the Charity Shield.“Together with Fam [Football Association of Malawi], we try to identify a need that we can address. Just like last year, we will donate proceedings of the match to another cause.“We, as a Caring Bank, believe that we have a role to play in helping the needy because some of them might be our customers or connected to one of our customers,” Chikaonda said. THE 21KM MZUZU HALF MARATHON IS UNDERWAY IN THE CITY

The Mzuzu Half Marathon which has been organized by Malawi Council of Sports is underway. The registered athletes numbering to 133 are those who are participating in the competition in the Green City of Malawi this morning. The winner will walk away with a sum of 1.5 million Kwacha, K1 million for the second position and K500,000 for the third place in both categories. The 21 kilometers Mzuzu City half marathon taking place today is the second edition, where the similar event was held last year.  There will also be a relay race at the stadium of Mzuzu where 14 teams comprising of 4 racers will battle for a glory soon after the City's half marathon. According to the Chairperson for Malaw National Council of Sports (MNCS) Dr Sunduzwayo Madise, the competition has been organized with an agenda of encouraging and promote the athletes in the country. DE JONGH SUED THE BANKERS

Former Silver Strikers head Coach Pieter De Jongh has sued the bankers for unlawful dismissal and he is demanding a compensation amounting to 500 million Kwacha. De Jongh confirmed in an interview that he has indeed sued silver stickers. In his remarks he said it's not all about compensation only. "Apart from compensation, I also want them to bear the cost of the case" he said. The case was presented on 31 January 2024, in industrial Relations Court by Pieter De Jongh's lawyer William Faulkner. The lawyer said they are just waiting for the Court to set the date of case hearing. De Jongh emphasized that his eyes are not for compensation and for that he have also notified Fifa about the behavior the bankers did to him.“I keep on saying that performance-based contracts are always two-sided. CHIUKEPO HAS RETIRED FROM ACTIVE FOOTBALL

Former Mighty Mukuru Wanderers striker Chiukepo Msowoya has retired from active football. The star has made an announcement today after he has been released from Wanderers in past two weeks. C hiukepo played for Bullets for many years before joining the Lali Luban. He was the most reliable striker at Bullets and thus where he became popular as a national star.he has also played for several clubs including Wanderers, defunct Escom United at local level but also played for Orlando Pirates, Golden Arrows (both in South Africa), APR FC in Rwanda and Desportivon Maculmana in Mozambique at international level. The sticker also saved for a national duty for so many years. He was reliable and he became popular of scoring the most important goals for a national team. Chiukepo was also part of the Flames squad at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Angola. Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Legends have lifted the legends cup after beating their rivals FCB Nyasa Big Bullets. Heston Muntali broke the deadlock when he found the back of the net on 85th minutes. Wanderers never gave up and it was now a balanced game up to the last whistle despite that it was raining heavily. While Mapale were leading the refree added 3 minutes to mark the end of the match. In the dieing minutes Wanderers equalized through a beautiful header from Victor Nyirenda after Joseph Kamwendo settled a a banana curve inside the penalty box. The match has been organized to rise funds that will be helping the legends of these clubs. The rivals have made a committee with the aim of  looking after the welfare of their legends during their retirement to active football. Balakasi played for a season at Lali Luban and he was then chased despite having a successful season and reliable player for Nomads. The leftback then went for Dedza dynamos for his survival in football career. Balakasi showed that he is talented as he was among the players who where reliable for the Dynamos. The board have suggested to come up with this initiative because it's the only way to thank their legends Yamikani Fodya have been given a new challenge as a Head coach of the people's team under 20 younth team. Chimango Kayira and Mcfallen Ngwira will be helping Yamikani Fodya as first and second assistant coaches respectively. Malawi Netball team, the Queens, have dropped to position 7 in the world after being overtaken by rivals, Uganda, as the World Vitality Netball Rankings shows. The Queens have struggled with results recently while Uganda had some games which they have performed well making them to leapfrog the Queens with just a point. CIVO ANNOUNCED 10 NEW SIGNINGS

Civo Service United, Capital City giants, have come up with 10 new signings as they plan to build a strong team that will perform well in the 2024 season. Civo have announced this year's squad as they will soon travel to Zambia for a friendly matches in preparation for TNM super league in few weeks to come. The Civil Servants has brought in 8 players who have been awarded three year contracts and two are signed on loan from FCB Nyasa Big Bullets. The players are goalkeepers, Blessings Juma and Rahaman John, defenders Masiya Manda and Asimeyi Phiri, midfielders Righteous Banda and Simon Chimenya and strikers, Matthews Hamza and Foster Biton. Meanwhile, the team's General Secretary, Edgar Chipalanjira, said the team will travel to Chipata in Zambia and Tete in Mozambique for friendlies  ahead of the 2024 season. BANGWE SUED THE NOMADS ON CHIMWEMWE NKHOMA

Bangwe All Stars have claimed that Chimwemwe Nkhoma, who was unvailed by Mighty Mukuru Wanderers as their latest signing had already penned a two year deal with them. Mighty Mukuru Wanderers announced the signing of the defender yesterday. Chimwemwe Nkhoma joined the Lali Luban as a replacement for Miracle Gabs Gabeya who went in Mozambique for UD Songo last month. Chimwemwe was signed from Mayamiko Stars where he was playing on loan fro Bulu United. According to Bangwe All Stars, Nkoma signed a deal year deal with them on 29 January 2024 at the team's head office at Limbe in the Commercial City of Blantyre. The player put a pen on paper upon being successful during trials. According to them everything concerning contract clearance have been offered from his former team Mayamiko Stars. Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have completed the signing of former Malawi U-20 defender, Chimwemwe Nkhoma who was playing at Mayamiko Stars on loan from Bulu United. The club have made the announcement of a latest signing after the player's medical test. The Player underwent medical tests earlier today before penning a three year deal with Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC. "Central defender Chimwemwe Nkhoma is now a Nomad as he is regraded as a right replacement of Miracle Gabeya who is in Mozambique with UD Songo.The 20 year old Eagle Strikers' number has penned a three year deal with Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC," writes Wanderers FC. Flames coach Patrick Mabedi has named a 27-man provisional squad of local based players which will go in camp on Sunday in preparation for a four-nation tournament later this month. Malawi will host Kenya, Zambia and Zimbabwe at Bingu National stadium in Lilongwe during the forthcoming FIFA window from 18 March up to 26 March 2024. THE FOUR-NATIONS TOURNAMENT TO BE PLAYED AT BNS

The competition will help our boys to get prepared ahead of Malawis elite league which will kick-off later this month and also the World cup qualifiers competition. The tournament will involve four countries which are Malawi, Kenya, Zambia and Kenya.  The competition will start on 18 March up to 26 March 2024 at Bingu national stadium in Lilongwe. The senior teams and under 20 teams in the mentioned countries are those who will participate in the completion.
