DE JONGH SUED THE BANKERS
Former Silver Strikers head Coach Pieter De Jongh has sued the bankers for unlawful dismissal and he is demanding a compensation amounting to 500 million Kwacha.
De Jongh confirmed in an interview that he has indeed sued silver stickers. In his remarks he said it's not all about compensation only. "Apart from compensation, I also want them to bear the cost of the case" he said. The case was presented on 31 January 2024, in industrial Relations Court by Pieter De Jongh's lawyer William Faulkner. The lawyer said they are just waiting for the Court to set the date of case hearing.
De Jongh emphasized that his eyes are not for compensation and for that he have also notified Fifa about the behavior the bankers did to him.“I keep on saying that performance-based contracts are always two-sided. There were so many things that I proposed, but were not fulfilled.”
The former coach said Silver Stickers insist that De Jongh's working enviroment at Silver was not conducive. Among others, they could not process his work permit which forced him to leave the country to avoid being arrested and deported.“And out of the many players I proposed, they only brought one. Now, how is that possible? All these things affected my work.” he said. De Jongh said despite taking up his concerns with the board chairperson George Kaudza Masina and management nothing was done.
In his remarks Silver Stickers Chief executive officer Patrick Chimimba said he could not comment as they are yet to be served with the court documents.
De Jongh penned a deal of two years with the bankers. But his contract was terminated within months due to failure to meet the targets. When signing a contract he was demanded to win an Elite league and a minimum of two cups. De Jongh failed to lift the title and any cup, Silver instead finished second in theTNM Super League and r finished as runners-up in Castel Challenge Cup.
