EDERSON SUSTAINED A MUSCLE INJURY IN A MATCH AGAINST LIVERPOOL LAST SUNDAY
The Premier League defending champions first choice goalkeeper, Ederson Santana de Moraes will be unavailable for four weeks after sustained a muscle injury in Sunday’s EPL match against Liverpool.
Ederson was hurt when he fouled his opponent Darwin Nunez, a striker in a penalty box in trying to clear a dangerous ball which was mistakenly set by Nathan Ake. The foul cost Pep Guardiola’s side a penalty which Liverpool turned this chance into a goal through Alexis Mac Allister.
The goalkeeper continued after receiving a treatment, but he couldn’t carried on for long. He then replaced by Stefan Ortega.
Pep confirmed that Ederson will not be fit for next match. According to his doctor, he will miss up to four weeks to allow him to fully recover. Manchester City will play against Newcastle United in FA Cup quarter-final match this Saturday and they will host their rivals Arsenal on 31 March in Premier League game.
The Brazilian will also be unavailable for international duty which will be come after FA Cup quarter-final. This means the German goalkeeper Stefan Ortega will be featured for City’s game against Aston Villa on Wednesday, 3 April and their away game with Crystal Palace the following Saturday.How Ederson sustained his injury
