New Kings Ekhaya Beat Bullets' Rivals Wanderers 2-1 To Lift 2026 Airtel Top 8

Debutants Ekhaya FC have been crowned 2026 Airtel Top 8 champions after beating Mighty Wanderers FC 2-1 in the grand final. 


Goals from Blessings Malimba from the penalty spot and a brilliant header from Allan Chihana sealed the win, with Mphatso Kamanga scoring the Nomads’ equalizer. With the victory the Cowboys became the first debutants ever to lift the trophy since its introduction.  


The final took place at BNS in Lilongwe. From the first whistle, Ekhaya showed hunger, closing down spaces and matching Wanderers in every challenge. Wanderers dominated possession for the first 30 minutes but failed to create clear chances, with Clement Nyondo missing a free header while unmarked.  


Ekhaya took the lead through a counter-attack that forced a Sanudi handball in the box and a penalty, which Malimba converted to make it 1-0. Wanderers responded at halftime with two changes, bringing on Isaac Kaliati and Lameck Mithi for Nyondo and Nahipa.


The changes worked as Kamanga equalized early in the second half. But Ekhaya hit back when a free kick near the corner was headed home by Chihana to restore the lead at 2-1. The Cowboys then defended in numbers, withstanding wave after wave of Wanderers attacks to hold on until full time.  


It was a match full of tactics, fight, and belief. Ekhaya’s discipline and hunger denied the Nomads any chance. Wanderers’ late push wasn’t enough to change the scoreline. History has been made the new kings are here.

DEDZA DYNAMOS HAS SIGNED A SPONSORSHIP DEAL WITH PREMIER BET MALAWI

Dedza Dynamos have officially unveil a one year sponsorship deal with a betting company, Premier Bet Malawi. According to a sponsorship agreement the contract is for a year with an option of extension. Dedza Dynamos will now be called Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos. Speaking during the unveiling ceremony at Premier Bet offices in Limbe, Blantyre the Company's CEO Trevor Whitaker said as Premier Bet they are expecting good results and better performance from players." FIFA COMMENTED ON THE RUMORS OF THE INTRODUCTION OF THE BLUE CARD

FIFA has today issued an official statement regarding yesterday’s information about the introduction of a blue card in football. According to FIFA, it is premature to talk about this. FIFA wishes to clarify that reports of so called blue card, “at elite levels of football are incorrect and premature. Any such trials, if implemented should be limited to testing in a responsible manner at lower levels, a position that FIFA intends to reiterate when this agenda item is discussed at IFAB AGM on 2 March” To recap, it was reported yesterday about the possibility of introducing a blue card in football, which would be given for tactical fouls and disputes with the referee.
