Mighty Wanderers Queens have on Wednesday 7th November 2024 started training at Limbe Country Club in preparation for the FAM National Women's Championship which will kick-off in March this year. The Queens will participate on such competitive Championship for the first time in history. In his remarks Mighty Wanderers Queens coach, Thom Kazembe said he is looking forward for the Championship and they are hoping that they will perform well in the competition. The Mulanje based football team, Fomo FC have been promoted to the flight league, TNM Super League as they have been crowned the champions of the ThumbUp Southern Region Football League after beating Ntopwa FC 4-2 on post-match penalties following a one-all draw in 90 minutes. Chimwemwe Kamowa found the back of the net just 3 minutes after the first whistle of the match. And Japhet Kamzimbi scored an equalizer at 14 minute. The final ended in one-all-draw in 90 minutes which forced the match to reach into penalties. Fomo FC won the match through penalties and were crowned the champions of SRFA ThumbUp Premier Division League. This automatically made Fomo FC to be promoted in the country’s elite league. The Blantyre based rivals, Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers legends have established a welfare committee aimed at looking after the welfare of former players. The legends have come up with this development to support each by looking at how former football players are striving during their retirement. Kelvin Moyo has been given a role to chair the interim committee. Moyo said the primary objective is to provide assistance and support to former players who may be facing challenges post-retirement.
